Monarto Safari Park

Monarto Safari Park is a non-government conservation charity, every visit, adoption, donation and ticket helps to save species from extinction.

We need your help to protect bushfire-affected wildlife

Ecologists estimate we’ve lost over one billion Australian animals – mammals, birds and reptiles – since the catastrophic blazes gripping the country began, with untold others sick, injured, suffering and displaced.

The animals that have survived now face a tough time ahead, having to deal with dwindling food sources and decimated shelter offering little protection from equally-hungry prey species.

It’s horrifyingly clear – we’re facing an unprecedented crisis.

As a conservation charity that exists to save species from extinction, we’re devastated – as we’re sure you are too. The conservation and restoration of crucial habitats and animal populations on this scale will need a seriously urgent and long-term approach.

Thankfully, this is where the global network of good zoos can step in to help. We’re joining forces with the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA) of Australasia and accredited zoos around the world to launch a Wildlife Conservation Fund, which will raise funds for both emergency and long-term crisis action on the ground.

Donations collected will be made available to a number of ZAA’s 91 members to assist with the crucial rehabilitation of wildlife and their habitats including:

  • rescue and rehabilitation of drought and fire-affected Australian native wildlife with the specific end-goal of returning healthy animals back to their natural habitats,
  • restoration, rehabilitation and resilience improvement of drought and fire-affected Australian native habitats,
  • dedicated research geared toward reassessing species status, habitat regeneration and other science-related projects.

Watching our country and its inhabitants burn is shocking and horrifying to us all. But ensuring our native wildlife is safe and has a sustainable habitat to call home is at the heart of what we do.

We’ve been so touched by how many of our incredible supporters want to help and know you will do whatever you can to help our native wildlife and ecosystems bounce back from this tragedy.

Everyone – us, you, governments, businesses, and communities – has a role to play in addressing this problem before it’s too late.

Please consider making a tax-deductable donation to the ZAA’s Wildlife Conservation Fund and help us secure a brighter future for fire-affected species.

Thank you for your support. Click here to donate now.
