Make meaningful, curriculum-aligned connections to STEM education using the natural environment.

Teachers will explore how to connect students to STEM through inquiry, observation, and data collection in an open-range environment, and how to design learning experiences that bridge the classroom with real-world conservation and land management challenges. The session models how multimodal data, spatial scale, and interdisciplinary thinking can be used to enrich STEM learning before, during, and after a visit to the safari park or similar natural environments.

Through guided activities and practical examples, participants will investigate how Monarto Safari Park can support an authentic continuum of STEM learning, from early years through to secondary contexts. The workshop highlights applied STEM in action, including conservation science, engineering solutions, technology systems, and mathematical thinking embedded in the day-to-day operations of a large conservation organisation.
