Fingers crossed for another successful Western Swamp Tortoise breeding season

We’re wrapping up another successful Western Swamp Tortoise breeding season!
hat means our tortoises have spent a couple of days visiting their mates and now we wait with bated breath for their eggs in a couple of months’ time.
Considered Australia’s rarest reptile, these tortoises will play a vital role in our work as a conservation charity to help save this species from extinction.

We’re proud to be one of only two zoos in the world breeding this species, with nine tortoises already released into the wild in Western Australia.
