How your ticket helps our conservation efforts

Sadly, Asian Elephants are classified as endangered by the IUCN and continue to face severe threats in the wild. Habitat loss and poaching have caused their population to decline by 50% over the past three generations, leaving fewer than 52,000 in the wild.

This makes a long-term, collaborative commitment to conservation more crucial than ever, ensuring the survival of the species for generations to come. The introduction of elephants to Monarto Safari Park will play a vital role in raising awareness of elephant conservation while actively contributing to in-situ conservation programs. Zoos SA will collaborate with the Asian Elephant regional breeding program to ensure elephants are born into safe habitats with socially appropriate family structures.

When you purchase a ticket to Up Close with Giants, you directly support essential elephant care and help sustain our critical conservation efforts to prevent these gentle giants from disappearing. Zoos SA supports a wide number of conservation programs both within and beyond our gates.
